The Rule of Thirds project was the first technique-based assignment we completed this year. The goal was to imagine a three-by-three grid over the image and position the subject along one of the horizontal lines or at an intersection point. This technique helps create a more dynamic composition and naturally draws the viewer’s eye to the subject. I found this project both easy and educational. It introduced me to the idea that a subject doesn’t always have to be centered to create an appealing image. While I wish my photos had been more visually interesting, I did my best given the limitations of shooting on school grounds. Overall, I enjoyed this project and continued applying the technique throughout the course.
